A winter storm dumped 7.4 inches of snow on the valley floor on January 31, 1979. The Clark County School District closed the schools and sent everyone home.

I remember both of these snow falls. I was three for the first one and thought it was so funny that we could only see our white furred cat’s eyes when she was outside in the front yard that day.
As for thr day in 1979, I definitely remember not having to go to school and we built a snowman.
I remember leaving Las Vegas and boarding a bus to Indiana. There was snow from Las Vegas to Indiana.
I remember taking a long walk along the pedestrian path at the freeway and Torrey Pines, kicking up the snow with my boots, loving every minute. I was 21 years old.
