Las Vegas

Visiting Vegas means Casino – but does it mean online casino as well? Many people might be asking themselves that question in an age of online casinos. The role of land-based casinos might be changing in an era of online casinos. While some people might think that this is going to turn into the classic story of new media forms replacing older media forms, this is not always the case when it comes to technological change.

In some cases, the older media forms and the newer media forms manage to coexist, with some people sticking with the older forms and some people embracing the newer ones. In some cases, the older forms can even make a comeback due to some problems with the newer forms, nostalgia, or some even newer technology that puts the transitional form out of style.

Record albums seem to be following that trajectory: compact disks put them out of style, mobile devices put compact disks out of style, and now record albums are more popular than compact disks. They have fewer problems than compact disks did, and when people don’t want to just listen to music on their smartphones, they can now listen to records. It is possible that land-based casinos and online casinos will coexist in the manner of mobile devices and modern record albums, each offering a similar experience in a different way, with both of them used by many of the same people.

Some people will note that record albums are still different than they were decades ago, since they have been affected by the digital age. While stores are selling vinyl to the people who really love the unique sound the vinyl records produce, the record players themselves often have a highly digital component. Land-based casinos in Las Vegas are going to change in response to the new mobile age, and they already have.

They’re mobile friendly in a way that would have been unheard of years ago. Nevada is one of the only U.S. states where online casino gaming is completely legal. For many Americans, they really can’t just access online casinos anywhere: accessing them is a matter of location just like playing casino games at Las Vegas in the first place has always been a matter of location. The land-based casinos of Las Vegas are more than aware of the fact that they have an edge in that regard, and taking advantage of the uneven legality of online casinos in the United States is certainly a wise decision for professionals in the field.

Visiting Vegas means Casino – but does it mean online casino as well? It seems that increasingly, people are going to be playing both land-based casino games and special casino games at almost any local casino online. Land-based casinos do still offer people a different experience from their online counterparts, and their online counterparts bring their own unique qualities to the table. People can certainly come to Las Vegas and play in the land-based game rooms before playing at online casinos upstairs in their hotel rooms.

The Biggest Online Casino Games Developers

Microgaming When taking a casino online it’s absolutely paramount to have the best games going. Casino game development is now a major – and highly competitive – industry, with the best in the business being highly sought after by all the leading operators. This is primarily because the casinos are aware that their customers are becoming ever more picky and knowledgeable about who is behind the games they enjoy playing. While still in it’s infancy there’s a clear trend that players are becoming ever more brand loyal when it comes to choosing their games.

Casino games developers invest huge amounts of money, effort and expertise in developing their products. After all when it’s a major franchise tie-in there’s little room for cutting corners. This is why the majority of the major companies we’ll look at in this article tend to license their games to casinos. It’s very rare for development companies to tie in exclusive deals with a single casino, which is why many of the most popular games are found on a number of the larger operators sites. All this is good news for the player!

1) Microgaming

With over twenty years experience developing online casino games, Microgaming still sets the benchmark of what a quality game should be. In their early years they realized that they didn’t have the capital or exposure to take their own online casino further, yet they did have one key advantage. Superb games. So they took the decision to remodel themselves as game developers and then license their products to other operators. This brought the quality of their product to a much wider audience, and since then they’ve never looked back.

Microgaming have close to a thousand stand-alone games in their portfolio as well as having assisted in the development of another half that number. They have pioneered the development of new styles of Blackjack as well as been behind the likes of Mega Moohlah, Avalon and the especially popular Game of Thrones tie-in. Without question the biggest players in the industry at time of writing, and rumored to be well on their way to developing the next generation of virtual reality slots games.

2) Net Ent

Comparatively much smaller than the likes of Microgaming, but they have established a reputation of delivering superb games. Famed for the quality of their graphics and the sheer sleekness of their games, they have been behind some of the most popular releases in recent years. It’s no surprise that some of their games are also among the most popular with causal and free-play gamers. Key releases include Gonzo’s Quest, Jackhammer and Aliens.

3) BetSoft

Even smaller than Net Ent – but these guys are serious experts at one key feature which is becoming a major factor in top-quality crowd pleasing games. 3D. Releases from BetSoft may not come around as often as we’d like but when they do there’s never a dud. Their games are presented in gloriously high quality 3D and often feature innovative play features. Expect BetSoft to become major players in the future providing they can deliver the quality of their slots games onto a table game format.

4) Playtech

Second only to Microgaming in terms of size these guys deliver consistently high quality games that are extremely user friendly. Many of their most successful games have been tie-ins to major movies, and they’ve had some blockbuster success with it too. They have exclusive rights for all of the Marvel games – all of which are excellent – ranging from The Incredible Hulk through to Iron Man. Being a major company they’re not shy of purchasing up and coming young companies to add to their expertise, ensuring they are constantly at the fore of the latest developments within the industry.

5) Everymatrix

This company isn’t so much about developing games but much more about engineering the software to run them. They’re at the cutting edge of utilizing new technology to it’s utmost potential and with the impending arrival of truly 3D slots gaming they’re going to be very busy indeed! Already well known within the industry but not so much by the casual player, expect big waves in the coming few years.

Popular Online Casino Game Developers You’ve Never Heard Of

July 15, 2016

Gamevy, Ash Gaming, Quickspin

After playing in online casinos for years, I’m still learning about game developers I’ve never heard of. We’ve all heard of the popular developers, such as Playtech, Microgaming, Cryptologic, Betsoft and Net Entertainment (NetEnt), but there are quite a few other game studios building casino games that we’ve all come to love.

There are dozens of game developers building great games that are featured in hundreds of online casinos. You may have even played several of these games previously, as some of the unknown developers have been in business for more than a decade already. The list below features some of the most popular developers you’ve likely never heard of.

Gamevy

London-based developer Gamevy was only started last year (2015). The company won the “Winner Pitch” at ICE 2015, “Game to Watch” at ICE 2016 and a 2016 EGR B2B award. Most new online casino game developers often take years to hit the mainstream markets, but Gamevy casino games just went live at the MarathonBet Casino.

What’s so special about Gamevy? Well, they cater to the next-generation of gamers. Rather than develop online slots, the company has focused on other niches, including lotteries and instant win games. Gamevy have also developed the world’s first online gameshows where players can test their skills and win prizes, including big jackpots.

It’s only a matter of time before Gamevy games are available on the British online gambling scene.

Ash Gaming

Another London-based game developer, Ash Gaming has been in business a little longer than Gamevy, as they launched in 2000. Playtech actually bought the company in 2011 for £23 million. The company is licensed in the UK and you can play their online casino games in many casinos, including Coral, 888 Casino, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Bet365.

Most famous for their British-themed online slots, such as Monty Python’s Life of Brian and Little Britain, Ash Gaming has a growing portfolio. One of the most popular Ash Gaming slots is Alice in Wonderland. Enjoy having the chance to win big progressive jackpots? Ash Gaming offers over a dozen progressive jackpot slots, including Leprechaun’s Luck.

Quickspin

Some of you may have heard of Quickspin recently, as they were in the news a lot after being sold this year (2016) to Playtech for €50 million. Like Ash Gaming, Quickspin still operates independently from Playtech. Quickspin doesn’t have a delivery platform, but they’ve partnered with various networks in order to get their games into online casinos.

Where can you play Quickspin games? Plenty of casinos, including Mr. Green, Come On Casino and Gala Casino. The company only develops video slots and all of them offer the best in technology. The graphics and audio are impressive, plus the gameplay is exciting and engaging. Popular Quickspin slots include Genie’s Touch and the brand new Spinions.

Rabcat

Austrian-based Rabcat has been developing casino games since 2001, but they’ve always partnered with companies to deliver games to online casinos. They have partnerships with Microgaming, Quickfire and Odobo. That means you can play Rabcat developed games in many online casinos, including Royal Panda and William Hill Casino.

Rabcat has a full suite of online casino games, including a wide table game selection. However, the company is more well-known for offering excellent online slots. Some of the most popular slots developed by Rabcat include Castle Builder and Forsaken Kingdom: The Path of Valor. Both slots offer great gameplays, features and payouts.

I hope you enjoy some of the slots I’ve mentioned in this article next time you’re playing online.
